On Sunday, Pakistani government released 78 Indian fishermen that had been arrested for allegedly trespassing into Pakistani territorial waters. Naseem Siddiqui, an official of the provincial home department of Sindh said, “The fishermen were released from the Landhi jail in Karachi.”

The fishermen that have been released are likely to reach India on Monday.

Mr. Siddiqui also reported, “298 Indian fishermen are still imprisoned and will be released on completion of the verification of their nationalities by India.”

Fishermen from India keep getting arrested by Pakistani troops for illegal fishing. The Arabian sea border has not been clearly defined and without the proper technology, the fishermen find it hard to remain in the precise location without breaking any laws.

The fishermen that have been arrested often remain in prison even after serving their term. The fishermen remain under lock down for a long time due to the poor diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan.
