Former Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro’s oldest son Fidel Angel Castro Diaz-Balart took his life in Havana. The 68 year old’s body was found on Thursday morning by the Havana officials. It is said that Castro Diaz took his life after a long battle with depression.
He was popularly known as Fidelito and was the first born to the former Cuban President. Fidelito worked as a nuclear physicist after being trained in the former Soviet Union.
One of Cuba’s official newspapers said, “Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, who had been treated by a group of doctors for several months due to deep depression, took his life this morning.”
Fidelito was working as a Scientific Adviser for the Cuban Council of State and earlier had served as the Vice President for Cuba’s Academy of Sciences.
His father, Fidel Castro was a well renowned revolutionary figure and one of the world’s longest serving political leaders. Castro passed away at the age of 90 in November 2016.
