Facebook Makes Efforts Towards Employee Diversity

Publishing its fifth annual report on Friday, Facebook said that it has made efforts to increase the diversity of the company. There has been a considerable increase in hiring women employees in the last five years.

The increase in women employees has been 5 times in the last 5 years. There has also been a humble growth in the employment of Asian, Black and Hispanic individuals.

Employment of women in technical roles has increased from 15 per cent to 22 per cent. In business and sales roles, it has increased from 47 per cent to 57 per cent and 23 per cent to 30 per cent respectively.

According to a statement by the Chief Diversity Officer of Facebook, Maxine Williams, “The percentage of women globally at Facebook has increased from 31 per cent in 2014 o 36 per cent today. We have nearly doubled the number of women graduates we hire in software engineering from 16 per cent to 30 per cent.”

The increase in Black and Hispanic employees have been from 2 per cent to 4 per cent and 4 per cent to 5 per cent respectively.

According to a new site, Facebook also said that the employment of women in technical roles has increased seven times.

Facebook further stated that people from all backgrounds use Facebook and therefore it will serve their diverse users better with a more diverse workforce. According to the report, Facebook is the best place to work for the LGBTQ community and it is committed to the ‘equal pay for equal work’ pledge.
