Flat Earther Postpones His Launch Due To Lack Of Proper Permits

“Mad” Mike Hughes postponed his scheduled “research flat earth” blast off to Monday from last weekend. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) stated he lacked proper permits for the launch. The BLM stated Hughes was not permitted to launch his rocket from a public land.

He has relocated the launch pad about 6 Km from its original spot. Hughes feels the permits will not be required as he plans to take off and land on a private property with permission of the owner.

The self proclaimed Flat Earther Hughes said he will be moving forward with his plan. “I’m a daredevil. I’m not much for authority or rules,” he added.

On Wednesday, the rocket launcher built using a motorhome broke down in the driveway. In a YouTube announcement, Hughes said the launcher has been fixed but the matter of federal permission proved a “more serious stumbling block.”

Hughes was questioned about the motorhome, he said, “It takes three days to set up. You know, it’s not easy because it’s not supposed to be easy.”

The launch said to be a crucial first step toward ultimately photographing the “Flat Earth” is now scheduled for Monday. The 1,800 ft high launch at 500 miles per hour will be at the ghost town of Amboy, California.

“Mad” Mike Hughes still hopes the motorhome does not break down again and gravity ignores his launch.
