Donald Trump, the United States (U.S.,) President, on Tuesday, demanded for the construction of a border wall between the U.S., and Mexico, during his televised speech at the Oval Office.

Addressing the nation over a television speech from the Oval Office, Mr. Trump said, “America’s heart broke the day after Christmas when a young police officer in California was savagely murdered in cold blood by an illegal alien, who just came across the border. The life of an American hero was stolen by someone who had no right to be in our country.” He further raised a question to the Republican Congress and said, “How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?”

An Indian origin 33 year old police officer, Corporal Ronil Singh, was shot dead at a traffic stop, a day after Christmas, by Gustavo Perez Arriaga, an illegal immigrant from Mexico. Corporal Ronil Singh was shot while the immigrant was planning to go back to Mexico.

Donald Trump demanded $ 5.7 dollars to build the wall to ensure the security of the citizens of the U.S. He also described the situation as dangerous for the Americans as the illegal immigrants from Mexico are trying to circulate drugs and spread criminal activities in the U.S. He said, the humanitarian and security crisis are a major issue at the southern border, which needs to be resolved by constructing the border wall.

Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the Democratic Party, responded to Donald Trump’s speech and said, “The president has chosen fear. We want to start with the facts. The fact is, President Trump has chosen to hold hostage critical services for the health, safety and well-being of the American people and withhold the paychecks of 800,000 innocent workers across the nation, many of them veteran.”

Donald Trump’s demand for the wall was presented when he started his campaign for the U.S. Presidency. However, the Congress rejected the demand and cited the reason for the denial as the demand being immoral and expensive.
