A man attacked his wife outside the Begumpet Police Station in Hyderabad. The incident took place in broad daylight on Thursday.
Rahman, a professional painter, attacked his wife Kousal Begum and her four family members with a knife. The five of them were attacked when they were heading toward the police station to file a complaint against Rahman for harassing his wife by demanding money from her for liquor.
The couple separated 8 months back, however, according to sources, the accused allegedly continued harassing Kousal after the separation. He reached her office on Thursday morning and argued with her, demanding she gives him money. This led to her decision of filing a police complaint against him.
A police official stated to the media the nearby police officers immediately reacted to the attack by stopping it and arresting Rahman. Victims were taken to Gandhi Hospital in a police vehicle. The police started an investigation and filed a charge sheet against the accused under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under certain sections of the Indian Arms Act.
The four victims who suffered injuries are out of danger.
