Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Chief, was attacked by a restaurant worker at the Visakhapatnam Airport today. The attacker was identified as Srinivas Rao.

According to sources, Srinivas allegedly entered the VIP lounge, where Jagan was waiting for his flight to Hyderabad. The accused requested for a selfie with Jagan. Later, pretending to take a selfie, he took out a small sharp object and attacked Jagan on his left arm.

Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered minor injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

security officials arrested the accused and started the interrogation. During the interrogation, Srinivas said he did not want Jagan Mohan Reddy to come to power, which is why he attacked him.

Jagan accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of the attack and said, “Srinivas is a staff with airport canteen run by TDP leader Harsha Vardhan.”

The TDP denied all the allegations and claimed the incident was unfortunate. Lanka Dinakar, TDP leader said, “Security at the airport comes under a central agency. We condemn the incident and will conduct a thorough inquiry.”

Apart from the political conspiracy, the incident raised a question about the efficiency of the security at the airport. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF,) who are in charge of the security at all the airports across the country, have not responded on the matter.

Suresh Prabhu, the Minister of Civil Aviation has asked the CISF to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.
