The Delhi Fire Service, on the 13th of February, started an inspection in the hotels of Delhi. The inspection will be held in approximately 380 hotels in Central Delhi and Karol Bagh.

The Delhi Government ordered the Fire Service department to inspect and submit a report regarding the hotels’ compliance with the safety guidelines within a week. The order came after a recent fire mishap, on the 12th of February, which claimed 17 lives and left several injured.

According to sources, five storey building hotels will be inspected for their safety norms, especially for their fire extinguishers.

Atul Kumar Garg, the Chief Fire Officer, said, “Based on the directives of the State Government, we have formed six teams to carry out inspections in hotels and guest houses across Karol Bagh area. We have already begun the inspection.”

According to Mr. Garg, strict action will be taken against hotels which will fail to meet the safety criteria during the fire audit. Hotels with minor safety lapses will be given a warning and will be asked to fix the problem.

Stay tuned for further updates.
