K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the chief of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) declared the total value of the assets owned by him, yesterday.
Mr. Rao revealed his assets’ worth and an annual income of Rs. 22.60 crores and Rs. 2.07 crores, respectively.
Mr. Chandrashekar Rao submitted an affidavit stating the net value of his assets to the returning officer of Gajwel when he filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. In the affidavit filed, he mentioned, he is an agriculturist.
As per Mr. Rao’s documents, he owns an agricultural land of 54 acres, including a farmhouse worth Rs. 6.5 crores and a non agricultural land in Siddipet, valued at Rs. 60 lakhs. Apart from this, he also has gold worth Rs. 2.4 lakhs while his wife owns gold and diamonds worth Rs. 93 lakhs. The other assets mentioned were his two residences in Hyderabad and Karimnagar, valued at Rs. 5.10 crores.
Mr. Rao and his wife have movable assets of Rs. 10.40 crores and immovable assets of Rs. 12.20 crores. Although KCR has assets worth Rs. 22.60 crores, he does not own a car.
According to the documents filed by Mr. Rao for the 2014 elections, Mr. Rao’s assets’ value was Rs. 15.95 at the time.
K. Chandrashekar Rao also shared information about his liabilities of Rs. 8.8 crores, in the form of unsecured loans. He does not have any bank loans to his name, but owes an amount of Rs. 84 lakhs to his son, K.T. Rama Rao and Rs. 24. 60 lakhs to his daughter in law, Shailima. In addition, he said, he is involved in approximately 64 criminal cases related to the ‘separate Telangana’ agitation.
K. Chandrashekar Rao will contest for the Gajwel constituency in the Telangana Assembly elections, which are scheduled on the 7th of December.
