Two thousand and eighty seven candidates filed their nominations, yesterday, for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.
A total of 3,584 candidates submitted their nomination papers. As of Sunday, 1,497 candidates had registered themselves for the elections. The number increased to 2,087 yesterday, which was the last day for filing the nomination papers for the Telangana Assembly elections. The candidates will contest 119 Assembly seats in the Telangana elections.
The last day for withdrawing nominations is the 22nd of November. The parties contesting the Telangana Assembly polls are the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ‘grand alliance’ of the Congress with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI.)
The Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled on the 7th of December and the counting of votes will be held on the 11th of December.
