India has 29 unique states but one among them usually goes unnoticed by many which is why I am here to unveil its beauty! The land of dawn lit mountains, Arunachal Pradesh is known for its beautiful and humongous Himalayas. But have you ever got a chance to embrace its beauty? If you did, you know that it is not easy to visit Arunachal Pradesh unlike other Northeastern States –  Sikkim, Tripura or Meghalaya. Yes, the place has its rules and to experience its beauty you need a permit known as Inner Line Permit (ILP.) This is the first barrier that comes in the way of tourists who do not like hassle in their journey. But once you get the permit, you would see a completely different place on earth

Arunachal Pradesh was earlier known as North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and was a part of Assam that later became an independent state on 20th February 1987.

Itanagar being the capital of Arunachal Pradesh is the second state after Nagaland which has English as its official language. It constitutes 3.34 % of the total population of India making it the least  populated state. Among the Northeastern states which are known as seven states, Arunachal Pradesh is the largest of them all. The region has its own charm with fascinating culture and breathtaking beauties of nature.

       

What is different about the state is that more than 30 languages are spoken in here but English remains as its official language. Famous for its flora and fauna  the region also has the highest diversity of mammals in India, with more than 200 species and perhaps the only state that bears major cats – Tigers, Leopards, snow Leopards and clouded Leopards are found here. Arunachal Pradesh alone houses 601 species of Orchids which counts for almost 51 % of the total species in India, thus the title “Orchid Paradise” of India is given to Arunachal Pradesh.

 

               

 

Amazed already? Well, there’s more! The Tawang monastery in the State is India’s largest Buddhist monastery situated at an elevation of about 10,000 ft with a view of Tawang river. Arunachal pradesh has more than 20 Mongoloid and Tibeto-Burmese tribes and some tourists visit the region to experience its diverse tradition and culture. Some of the well known tribes of Arunachal Pradesh are Adi, Bokar, Bori, Nyishi, Aka and Galo.

 

 

Arunachal Pradesh is also known for a wide range of festivals. One of the famous festival in this region is Pangsau Pass winter festival which is celebrated for three days in the month of January. People sing folk songs, perform dances and put up exhibitions displaying handloom articles. Other festivals like Solung which is celebrated for 10 days in the monsoon season (July and August,) Nyokum which is celebrated for the harmony and prosperity of the people, Lossar festival celebrated to welcome the beginning of new year.
