Abid Rasool Khan, former Chairman, Telangana State Minorities Commission, is expected to resign from the Congress party, today. He alleged the Congress leaders of ignoring the Muslim community and denying to nominate Muslim candidates in majority for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.

Mr. Khan threatened the Congress saying he will quit the party if the deserving Muslim candidates don’t get tickets to contest the Telangana elections in Hyderabad.

Mr. Khan said, “We are very upset. Our President, Rahul Gandhi, has time and again said he will take care of genuine workers, and he will not allow paratroopers to enter the party and take out the cake. Things are totally happening on the other side.”

Mr. Khan further said, “If things are not set right, as far as I am concerned, I am going to resign.” He further questioned Congress, “You don’t want to give us nominated positions, don’t want to give us political opportunities, you just want our votes. What is the difference between our party and the BJP?”

The ruling party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) nominated two Muslim candidates for the Telangana polls.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) promised 14 seats to the Muslims, but nominated only 4 Muslim candidates.

After the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) announced its candidate representing the Malakpet constituency, only two seats are left in Hyderabad.

The Muslim candidates are waiting for the filing of nominations. The last date for filing the nominations is the 19th of November.
