Channabasappa Satyappa Shivalli, the Indian National Congress (INC) Minister of Municipal Administration and Local Bodies, passed away, on the 22nd of March, in Karnataka.
C.S. Shivalli, a 58 year old member of the INC in Karnataka, died due to a massive heart attack. The incident happened in Dharwad, Karnataka, where he was conducting rescue operations at a site where a building collapsed. Approximately 15 people died and several were injured during the collapse.
C.S. Shivalli was talking to someone when he fell unconscious. Although Shivalli was immediately rushed to a hospital in Hubballi, the doctors at the hospital said, he was brought in a critical condition and later, he died.
In 2018, Shivalli had a heart surgery, following which, he developed respiratory problems. According to his family members, Shivalli’s health worsened because of the dust and pollution at the accident site in Dharwad.
Shivalli started his political career in 1999, after he won his first elections as an independent candidate.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and conveyed his condolences to Shivalli’s family.

Shocked to hear the sudden demise of our minister Sri CS Shivalli. A truly grassroots, son of the soil poltician who served the people with great simplicity and commitment.
A great loss for the Congress and for the Dharwad region.
