The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) on the 13th of February, organised a rally, ‘Tanashahi Hatao, Loktantra Bachao’ (Remove Dictatorship and Save Democracy) rally, at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

The rally was organised to target and criticise the Prime Minister led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) Opposition party leaders like Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister (CM) of West Bengal, and N. Chandrababu Naidu, the CM of Andhra Pradesh, attended the mega rally.

Mamata Banerjee, on the 13th of February, landed in Delhi around 3:00 P.M., to attend the rally, whereas Naidu was in Delhi for his ‘Dharna Parota Deeksha’ protest against the Central Government.

Apart from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, opposition parties like the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD,) the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD,) the Samajwadi Party (SP,) the National Conference (NC,) the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) also attended the rally.

Gopal Rai, a senior AAP leader, said, “All opposition leaders will attend this rally against the Modi Government. It will be attended by all those who had attended Mamata Banerjee’s Kolkata rally last month.”

Approximately 23 parties attended the United India Rally, on the 19th of January, organised by the Mamata Banerjee led TMC. The rally was organised with the agenda of targeting the PM Modi led Government.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the AAP chief, hosted the Tanashahi Hatao, Loktantra Bachao rally, also known as the ‘Mahagathbandhan 2.0.’

Kejriwal took to Twitter and said, “Countless freedom fighters laid down their lives for our freedom and democracy. We cannot forget their sacrifices and remain silent to the tyranny of any dictator. Join us for the Save Democracy Satyagraha at the historic Jantar Mantar today afternoon.”

Approximately 1 lakh people took part in the rally, which began at 3:00 P.M., at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
