Karnataka’s by elections’ results for three Lok Sabha seats and two Assembly seats were declared today.
The results of the by polls held in Karnataka were announced to be in the favour of the Congress party. The candidates representing the alliance of Congress and Janata Dal [Secular] (JDS) against the BJP candidates set a record of victory.
According to sources, the Congress won the polls with 4 seats altogether and the BJP ended up winning one seat.
Competing against the BJP, the Congress and JDS won the elections of the Ballari Assembly, Mandya Assembly, Jamakhandi Assembly and Ramanagara Assembly, which comprised of two Lok Sabha seats and two Vidhan Sabha seats altogether. BJP won a seat in the Shivamogga constituency of Lok Sabha.
The Congress candidates who won are V.S. Ugrappa (Ballari,) L.R. Shivarame Gowda (Mandya,) Anitha Kumaraswamy (Ramanagara) and Anand Nyamagouda (Jamakhandi.)
B.Y. Raghavendra, who represented BJP, won the polls of the Shivamogga Assembly.
The polls were the first trial of the JDS and Congress alliance, which resulted in a great victory for both the parties in Karnataka.
