The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena, on the 18th of February, announced, the parties will contest the Lok Sabha elections together.

Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, addressed a press conference and spoke about their strategy of sharing seats for the elections. He said, “Assembly seats will be equally shared between the two parties after accommodating other political parties who are allied with us.”

The BJP will contest 25 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra and the Shiv Sena will contest 23 seats.

Mr. Fadnavis also spoke about the Ram Ayodhya temple issue and said, the temple will soon be built. Fadnavis also claimed, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will come to power in the elections of 2019.

Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, was confident about winning the elections and said, the BJP and the Shiv Sena ended their fight and will win approximately 45 Lok Sabha seats together in the polls.

With this official announcement regarding thee alliance between the Shiv Sena and the BJP, the speculations regarding them contesting as independent parties came to an end.

Maharashtra will contest a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled between April and May 2019.

The major parties contesting are the Indian National Congress (INC) and the BJP.
