Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 19th of February, appointed 6 All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries in Uttar Pradesh.

The newly appointed secretaries will work with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh East, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh West.

Zubair Khan, Kumar Ashish and Khade will work with Ms. Gandhi, whereas Rana Goswami, Dhiraj Gurjar, and Rohit Chaudhary are the AICC secretaries assigned to work with Mr. Scindia.

Mr. Scindia and Ms. Gandhi held multiple discussions and meetings with the Party workers in Lucknow to make strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi, on the 23rd of January, declared Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia as the AICC General Secretaries, in order to strengthen the INC in Uttar Pradesh.

The Party is trying to establish their power by winning the upcoming elections in the State. However, the challenge is quite tough as the major opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)

The State will contest a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats and the elections are scheduled between April and May 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates.
