Mayawati Das, the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) lashed out at the Indian National Congress (INC,) for spreading confusion regarding the seat sharing formula in Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The INC, during a press conference, said, out of 80 seats, the INC is leaving 7 seats for the grand alliance of the BSP and the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh..

Ms. Mayawati, angry with the statement of the INC said, “The Congress should not create confusion by forcibly trying to leave seven seats for the gathbandhan.”

Mayawati said, the INC is free to contest all the 80 seats, as the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP is capable of fighting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alone.

With the clarity regarding the seat sharing formula in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, clarified, her Party will not form any sort of alliance with the INC in any part of the Country.

Mayawati said, “BSP wants to make it clear one more time that along with Uttar Pradesh, in the entire country we have no understanding or alliance with the Congress at all. Our people should not fall into the trap of Congress’s daily lies and attempts to create confusion.”

The BSP and SP alliance will contest 50:50 seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving the seats in Raebareli and Amethi for the INC.

The Raebareli and Amethi constituencies belong to Rahul Gandhi, the President of the INC, and Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC.)

Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats, which are divided into 7 phases. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh are the INC, the BJP and the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
