Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh East, on the 11th of February, kicked off her campaign, Mission UP, for the Lok Sabha elections.

Ms. Gandhi launched the campaign with a grand roadshow in Lucknow. After the official announcement about Priyanka Gandhi’s appointment as the AICC General Secretary, this is said to be her first official campaign ahead of the upcoming elections. The Indian National Congress (INC) workers welcomed Priyanka Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the AICC General Secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh West, and Rahul Gandhi, the INC chief.

The Party workers decorated the streets and the truck in which the INC leaders will travel during the road show. The show started at 12:00 P.M., from the Lucknow Airport and will end at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Party office. The route will include areas like Hussainganj and Hazratganj.

Later, Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Scindia are expected to hold several meetings with the INC leaders and Party workers regarding the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. They are also scheduled to discuss about the strategies for the elections.

The appointment of Priyanka Gandhi as the AICC General Secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh East may be a threat to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) ahead of the ensuing elections. According to sources, Narendra Modi’s and Yogi Adityanath’s Lok Sabha constituencies, Varanasi and Gorakhpur respectively, are a part of Uttar Pradesh East.

Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Scindia are expected to stay in Lucknow for a day, whereas Rahul Gandhi came back to Delhi to join the protest by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Stay tuned for further updates.
