Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC,) will file her nominations, on the 11th of April, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Ms. Gandhi will submit her nomination papers as a Member of Parliament (MP) candidate to contest from the Raebareli constituency, Uttar Pradesh.
Sonia Gandhi has a stronghold in the Raebareli constituency, as since 2004, Ms. Gandhi is representing the Indian National Congress (INC) from the constituency and winning the Lok Sabha seat.
Ms. Gandhi is the current MP of Raebareli and is all set to fight against Dinesh Pratap Singh, the MP candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the constituency.
The Raebareli Lok Sabha seat fight is between the BJP and the INC, as the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) did not nominate any candidate in Raebareli.
Mayawati Das, the President of the BSP, left two seats, Amethi and Raebareli, for the INC, with which the BSP and the SP denied to form an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections.
Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which are divided into 7 phases.
The elections are scheduled to be held on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
