P.V. Sindhu made India proud once again by winning the finals of Badminton World Federation (BWF) Tournament 2018, on Sunday.

P.V. Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara, a Japanese badminton player, with a score of 21-19 and 21-17 in the BWF finals. The BWF tournament was held at Guangzhou city, China.

When asked about her strategy to win against Nozomi Okuhara, P.V. Sindhu said, “There’s no particular strategy because whenever I play against Nozomi or Yamaguchi, I’m prepared for long matches.”

Emotional over her victory, P.V. Sindhu stated, it is her first gold medal. She further said, “Normally we think how do I shout or what should I do to celebrate, but I had nothing in my mind. I didn’t even shake hands with Nozomi and then umpire said ‘Sindhu it’s time you shook hands with her.’ But she had come over to my side to give me a hand. That moment I just had tears in my eyes, I wanted this win very much and I got it.”

Gopichand, P.V. Sindhu’s coach, rejoiced over Sindhu’s victory against the brilliant players at the BWF Tournament. Speaking about Sindhu’s defeats in the last few matches this year, he said, “There’s been a lot of talk about her not winning the finals. So it was important, not for anybody else, but for Sindhu’s mind that she locked in the final with confidence.”

The win by P.V. Sindhu earned her her first title of 2018 and the 14th title of her badminton career.

Many celebrities took to Twitter and congratulated P.V. Sindhu for her victory.
