Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu President Tamilisai Soundarajan nominated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Nobel Peace Prize 2019 on Tuesday. Narendra Modi was nominated for launching the world’s largest healthcare scheme, Ayushman Bharat.
The nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize start from the month of September every year. The last date for the nominations is the 31st of January, 2019.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme was launched under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna at an event in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Saturday. The scheme is the world’s largest government funded healthcare programme with beneficiaries coming up to 50 crores. Insurance up to Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided to each family under the scheme. Talking about the services, it is said the scheme will follow cashless and paperless procedures, providing the beneficiaries with an easy access to the services.
PM Modi at the event said, “More than 13,000 hospitals have been added as part of the scheme. The trial for the rollout of the scheme was already being done in parts of the country.” He further added, the concept behind the scheme was ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas,’ with no discrimination on the basis of caste, community, or religion.
The Central Government launched a helpline number 14555 to help the public collect information on the scheme. Apart from this, all the healthcare centres in the country will also provide information about the scheme.
