Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi Congress Chief, criticised the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)

Sheila Dikshit, on the 17th of January, gave an interview, where she spoke about the Congress party and also took a dig at the alliance between the SP and the BSP.

Speaking about the BSP and SP alliance, Ms. Dikshit said, “Let them come together. They keep on coming together and departing and coming together. I mean they are not stable, they don’t spell stability. Let’s see.”

Recently, Mayawati Das, the BSP chief, and Akhilesh Yadav, the SP President, held a joint press conference and declared a grand alliance between the parties for Uttar Pradesh elections, 2019. However, the BSP and the SP did not include the Congress party in the alliance.

During the interview with Indo Asian News Service (IANS,) Ms. Dikshit also spoke about campaigning for the Congress party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections. She said, she will be a part of the campaigns if asked, but will focus more on Delhi as there is a lot of work to be done in Delhi.

Moving ahead, the Delhi Congress Chief shared, she sees Rahul Gandhi, the Congress chief, as the right candidate fit to be the Prime Minister of India.

Ms. Dikshit said, “Let the party decide that. We want, I want personally and most of us want it. But it has to be decided by the entire party.”

Sheila Dikshit, the three time Delhi Chief Minister, took charge as the Delhi Congress Chief, on the 10th of January, after Ajay Maken, the former Delhi Congress Chief, resigned from the post citing health reasons.
