Justice V. Eswaraiah, a former Judge of the Telangana High Court, on the 19th of February, asked the Government of Telangana why there are no women Cabinet Ministers in the Government.

K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 19th of February, announced the names of 10 Cabinet Ministers and expanded the Government of the State.

Justice Eswaraiah said, “It is the CM’s duty to encourage women in political sphere.”

He urged KCR, the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) to induct women ministers in the next list of Cabinet Ministers, which will release after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The decision of KCR to not induct any women ministers amongst the six who won the Telangana Assembly elections is not only criticised by the Ministers of the opposition parties, but the residents of Telangana as well.

Bandaru Dattatreya, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Secunderabad, said, “There were no women in the Cabinet for five years. It is sad that women and ST candidates did not get a berth.”

During the Assembly elections, the Party gave tickets to 6 women in total, out of the 119 Assembly seats.

The residents of Telangana, who voted for the TRS and helped it win the Assembly elections, flooded Twitter with posts regarding the lack of women in the Cabinet.

They expressed their anger and raised questions as to why there are no women Cabinet Ministers in Telangana.
