11 Central Reserve Police Force Personnel were killed and four injured in a Naxal ambush at Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. The injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Raipur for treatment. The top police officials have come together in a meeting to assess the situation at Raipur.
This incident happened 20 kilometers from the headquarters of Sukma in Bhejji in an ambush laid by the Naxals. Sunder Raj, the IG of Bastar said that small arms firing and IED explosions were part of this ambush. It was also revealed that the arms of the dead and injured CRPF personnel were missing from the site of the ambush.
Following the incident, the police started combing operations in the area. The police also said that two Naxals were killed in response fire but bodies have not been recovered. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed their grief over the incident. Singh said in a tweet, “Deeply pained to learn of the killing of CRPF personnel in Sukma. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.”

The PM also tweeted about his conversation with Home Minister and that Rajnath Singh will be arriving at Sukma to assess the situation. This attack happened when the CRPF personnel of the 219 battalions were at road opening operation. The police said that this was the biggest attack of 2017 in terms of casualties.
