8 Killed In Fire At Mumbai’s Andheri West

Mumbai: At least eight people were killed and one is in critical condition after fire broke out around 6 am at Wafa Medical Store at Juhu Galli in Andheri West. The ambulance and fire tenders rushed to the place.
The medical store is located on the ground floor of the building, while families were staying at the first and second floor. The victims were taken to the nearby Cooper Hospital, he said.

According to a fire brigade officer, a cylinder kept in the medical store is suspected to have exploded resulting in the fire. But, the exact cause of the blaze would be ascertained after a proper inquiry, he said.

Out the eight who died, five were children. “Our fire brigade team received a call at 6.15 am and we rushed three fire tenders, one water tanker and two ambulances to the spot,” the official said, adding that the blaze has been brought under control.
