An actor and singer from Assam, Bidisha Bezbaruah was found dead hanging from the ceiling. Bidisha was found on Monday at her residence in Sushant Lok Area in Gurugram.
The reason for her death was not ascertained immediately but information from family and friends revealed that Bidisha committed suicide due to marital problems.
On Tuesday, Bidisha’s husband Nisheeth Jha was arrested for abetment to suicide.
Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal asked Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar to probe into the case.
Bidisha met Nisheeth at the office she worked. The two got married on 28th April 2016 and moved to Mumbai. But in the first week of July 2017, Bidisha returned to Gurugram. Her friends alleged that Bidisha found out that Nisheeth was having extra marital affairs. The friends even claimed that she was a couple of months pregnant.
The police have not verified the claim and will reveal details once the post mortem results come.
Ashwini Kumar Bezbaruah, Bidisha’s father said his daughter called him on Monday evening at 5:08 P.M., telling him she wanted to get a divorce. He said, “I told her to keep calm. Then I called Nisheeth and urged him to return to Delhi. He flatly refused.”
With remorse in his voice, Ashwini Kumar said his daughter’s last words were, “Let me take my own decisions.” After which she switched off her phone.
Nisheeth claims he tried calling his wife but there was no response. He then called the broker of the newly rented flat and asked him to go check on Bidisha. The broker knocked multiple times and then called the police who broke open the door to find Bidisha hanging from the ceiling.
The father of the deceased said, “Around 7.30 P.M., Nisheeth called me and said something was wrong with Bidisha. In the next call, he told me that she had died. Then I got a call from the police as well, who informed me of her demise. She had shared her problems, including her husband’s extra marital affair, with her friends and family.”
He further added, “She was a multi talented girl, be it singing, dancing, or acting.”
