Ajit Jogi, Chhattisgarh’s First CM Passes Away

Ajit Jogi, the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, passed away on the 29th of May.

Mr. Jogi died due to a cardiac arrest at the age of  74 year old and was admitted to the hospital a few days ago, during the nation wide lockdown.

The news of his demise was confirmed by Ajit Jogi’s son, Amit Jogi  through his official Twitter handle.

In the Tweet, Mr. Amit wrote, “20-year-old Chhattisgarh has lost a patriarch. Not just me, but Chhattisgarh and its citizens have lost a father.”

Mr. Jogi was the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and was a former leader of the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Later in 2016, Ajit Jogi formed the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) after being expelled by the INC for anti party activity.

In the 2018 State Assembly election, Ajit Jogi’s Party lost against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INC, as the INC won comfortably.

His final rites were performed on the evening of the 29th of May.

Many political leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Ajit Jogi.
