Ajit Pawar, a senior member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP,) on the 27th of September, resigned from the Maharashtra Assembly.
Pawar submitted his resignation letter to Haribhau Bagade, the Assembly Speaker of Maharashtra, which was accepted on the same day.
The reason behind the resignation of Ajit Pawar, NCP President Sharad Pawar’s nephew, is not yet disclosed.
Haribabu said, “He gave his handwritten resignation letter to my Personal Secretary (PS.) He called me up from there. I was surprised. I asked Dada (Ajit Pawar) why he was doing so. Dada told me he would tell me later. He insisted me to accept the resignation letter.”
When asked about the reason behind Ajit Pawar’s resignation, Sharad Pawar said, “He did not discuss the resignation issue with anyone of us. I do not have even an iota of a clue as to why he took that decision… he has been unreachable ever since.” He further added, “When I meet Ajit, I will ask him the reason for this extreme decision.”
As of now, Ajit Pawar is out of reach, no one is able to connect to him.
The resignation of Ajit Pawar ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections could be a major drawback for the NCP.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on the 21st of October and the results will be announced on the 24th of October.
