Mr. Akash Ambani, the son of Business Tycoon Mukesh Ambani has been named as the new Chairman of the Reliance Jio.
On the 28th of June, Tuesday, Mr. Mukesh Ambani announced his resignation and named his son the next Chairman of the company. The decision to name Akash Ambani (30) as the Chairman was taken during a board meeting of the Reliance Jio, held on the 27th of June, Monday. Prior to being named as Reliance Jio Chairman, Mr. Akash Ambani was a non-executive director at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mukesh Ambani would remain Chairman of Jio Platforms Ltd., the flagship company that owns all Jio digital services brands including Reliance Jio Infocomm.
The formal announcement of Mr. Mukesh Ambani indicates that one of the wealthiest businesses of India would now be led by the new generation, as Mr. Mukesh Ambani took a backseat, handing over the leadership to his son Mr. Akash Ambani.
