Amit Khare, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been appointed as the new Adviser of Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
On the 12th of October, the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet approved Mr. Amit Khare’s appointment as an adviser to the Prime Minister of India. He would work as an adviser in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on a contractual basis of two years.
Although he is working on a contract basis, the Government rules regarding re-employment would be applicable to Amit Khare. He is expected to work as the Advisor to PM Mr. Narendra Modi for the next two years, which might be extended in future.
Mr. Amit Khare was an IAS officer from 1985 batch of Jharkhand cadre. In 2018-2019, he also served as the Information and Broadcasting Secretary and retired from service in September. In 2019 December, Mr. Khare held the position of the Higher Education Secretary also. Later, in 2020 April, he was re appointed as IB secretary. Mr. Amit Khare is known for his transparency in work and candid decision making ability. Before joining the PMO bureaucrats, he was working with the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
