On the 24th of September, it was announced Amitabh Bachchan, the legend of Bollywood, will be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The Central Government selected Amitabh Bachchan for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema. Prakash Javedkar, the Information and Broadcasting Minister of India, took to Twitter and announced the 2019 recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Mr. Prakash said, “ We have unanimously chosen the legendary Amitabh Bachchan for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which has entertained and inspired two generations of audiences.”
Mr. Javadekar said the Country and the international community were happy to see him receive the prestigious award and congratulated him for the same.
Mr. Bachchan is a part of the Bollywood industry since 1969. Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in the Indian film industry, was introduced to honour the artists of Indian cinema in 1969 by the Government of India.
As of now, approximately 50 artists were awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, including Amitabh Bachchan.
