Ahead of the release of Mr. S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed.

According to sources, Ms. Alluri Soumya, a resident of Undrajavaram in West Godavari, filed a PIL in the Telangana High Court (HC.)  According to the petitioner, the history of the freedom fighters was distorted by the  RRR movie makers.  In her petition, she urged the Telangana High Court (HC) to stay  the censor certificate, which is to be issued to the movie.  Ms. Alluri Soumya said, it insults the sentiments of freedom fighters’ followers.

The Telangana High Court bench led by Justice Mr. Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice Mr. Venkateswara Reddy heard the PIL.

Mr. S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR is a pan India film set to release with a big budget in different languages including Telugu and Hindi.  RRR is said to be a period action drama film, based on two Indian freedom fighters against Britishers.  It is a fictional story set in the preindependence era (1920) and based on the lives of two well known revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.  While the editing is by Sreekar Prasad, the film’s cinematography is by K.K. Senthil Kumar.

Fans were waiting for the big movie to release on Pongal (February 2022.)  However, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the Omicron threat, the makers postponed the release date.  The makers released a statement which read, “Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film.  Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love.  #RRRPostponed #RRRMovie.”

The new release date of Mr. S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR is yet to be announced.

Stay tuned for further updates.
