Disappointed with the judgement of the Bombay High Court, the Editor in Chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami, on the 10th of November, moved the Supreme Court.

On the 9th of November, the Bombay High Court dismissed his petition for interim bail in the 2018 abetment to suicide case.

In 2018, Anvay Naik, a 53 year old interior designer and his mother, Kumud Naik, committed suicide over non payment of dues from Republic TV.

The 47 year old journalist Arnab Goswami who is on a 14 day remand by a local Alibaug Court, was at a local school designated as a Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 centre for the Alibaug prison. Later, on the 9th of November, he was shifted to the Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai.

However, after two courts dismissed his petition for bail, Arnab Goswami decided to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court.

Mr. Goswami who is currently in the Taloja jail, moved the SC petition through his advocate on record, Nirnimesh Dube.

Meanwhile, the Alibaug Sessions Court is scheduled to hear a revision application filed by the Raigad police for the police custody of Arnab Goswami.

Arnab Goswami has been arrested under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (acts done by persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

In regard to the 2018 suicide case, Arnab Goswami and two others Neetish Sarda and Firoze Shaikh were also arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of Mr. Naik and his mother.

The matter was first filed with the Alibaug Police and heard by a local court of Alibaug. The Alibaug Court rejected the bail plea of Arnab Goswami on the 4th of November and ordered him to continue in police custody for 14 days.
