Asaududdin Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM,) on the 2nd of October, criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government.

Mr. Owaisi, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Hyderabad, said the BJP considers Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, their hero, but speaks about Gandhiji’s values.

Owaisi said, “We are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The present BJP government has Nathuram Godse in its mind and Mahatma Gandhi in its words.”  He further said, “The BJP is running its shop in the name of Gandhi. This Government is bluffing the entire Country with the name of Gandhiji.”

Mr Owaisi commented against the BJP and its leaders during a public rally in Aurangabad.  The rally was organised in view of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

During the rally, Asaduddin Owaisi highlighted the crime and murders committed under the BJP rule and said, “The present rulers (the BJP) admire Nathuram Godse as their hero. Godse killed Gandhi with three bullets but people are being killed here every day.”

Speaking about the increased number of farmer suicide cases, Owaisi said Mahatma Gandhi cared about the farmers of India, but under the BJP rule, farmers are committing suicide.  He concluded his criticism by questioning what the present Government is doing.

The AIMIM is going to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Aurangabad constituency.

Maharashtra will contest 288 Assembly seats in the upcoming elections, scheduled on the 21st of October.

The results of the Maharashtra elections will be announced on the 24th of October.

Stay tuned for further updates.
