Asian Games 2018: Indian Medal Winners

At the Asian Games 2018, many players won medals representing India. The Indians won four medals on day 11, two gold, one silver and one bronze.

Dutee Chand ended the 16 year wait for India by winning the first silver medal in the women’s 200 meters. India occupied the ninth position in the overall medals, tally behind China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Iran, Taiwan, Uzbekistan and North Korea.

The list on day 11 for the medal winners are long as Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal got bronze for the mixed doubles Table Tennis match. To add to the glory, Swapna Barman won the women’s heptathlon event with a total of 6026 points. It was India’s first ever gold medal at the Asian Games.

Arpinder Singh secured a gold medal as he won the men’s triple jump event with the best jump of 16.77 meters. Arpinder became the second Indian after Mohinder Singh Gill’s win in the 1970 Asiad.

On the basis of day 11 performances, it can be said that on day 12, India will have a chance to increase their medal tally. The Indian medal count is likely to increase with Manjit Singh and Jinson Johnson for the Men’s 1500 meters final while Lakshman Govindan participates in Men’s 5000 meters final. The Indian men also have their Hockey semifinal match vs Malaysia which they are expected to win.
