Latest updates about the Babri Masjid-Ram Janambhoomi reveal the Muslim parties, on the 18th of October, rejected the proposed settlement.

Ejaz Maqbool, the lawyer representing the Muslim petitioners, issued a statement which read, “Accordingly, we must make it absolutely clear that we the appellants before Supreme Court do not accept the proposal made which has been leaked out to the press, nor the procedure by which the mediation has taken place nor the manner in which a withdrawal of the claim has been suggested as a compromise.”

The statement came after all the Muslim parties, except the Sunni Waqf Board, refused to compromise in the long standing land dispute.

Likewise, the Hindu groups are also not ready to settle the matter and sacrifice the land, which they believe is the exact birth spot of Lord Rama.

The statement also said, “That the leak to the press may have been inspired by either Mediation Committee directly or those who participated in the said mediation proceedings or participants.”

The parties also questioned the confidentiality of the matter and said information about the mediation process is being leaked to the media, which, in fact, should remain confidential.

The Supreme Court (SC) constituted a panel for the mediation process in its last hearing on the 16th of October.  The SC also directed the panel to submit a report briefing about the mediation process.

The Supreme Court is expected to announce its final verdict about the long standing Ayodhya land dispute before the 17th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
