Bhupendra Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been selected as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat.
According to sources, a day after the resignation of Mr. Vijay Rupani, the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Bhupendra Patel was announced as the new CM. The decision was taken during a high level meeting held by the senior leaders of the BJP.
After being appointed as the new Gujarat CM, Mr. Bhupendra Patel extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister of India and the BJP leaders. He said, “I thank Prime Minister Narandra Modi, BJP president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah for entrusting me.”
Mr. Bhupendra Patel is scheduled to meet the Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat to stake claim and form the Government of Gujarat.
Highlighting the history of the BJP leader, Mr. Bhupendra Patel, he is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and 59 years old. He has diploma in civil engineering and is a resident of Shilaj area in Ahmedabad. Patel is trustee in Patidar organizations Sardar Dham and Vishwa Umiya Foundation. He was standing committee chairman, president of Memnagagar Nagarpalika in 1999-2000, vice chairman of School Board of AMC in 2008-10, councilor from Thaltej ward in 2010-15, and chairman of AUDA in 2015-17.
On the 11th of September, Saturday, Mr. Gujar Vijay Rupani submitted his resignation to the Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat at the State Raj Bhavan.
