Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Extends Cabinet, Allocates Portfolios

Nitish Kumar, the newly sworn in Chief Minister of Bihar, on the 17th of November, extended the Cabinet in Bihar.

A day after taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Kumar extended his Cabinet ministry and announced various portfolios.

According to today’s announcement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar kept the Home Ministry portfolio. 

Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) would handle Finance, Commercial Taxes, Environment and Forest, Information Technology, Disaster Management and Urban development Ministry.

Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi of the BJP would be in charge of Panchayati Raj, Backward Caste Uplift, Extremely Backward Class Welfare and Industry.

The Janata Dal (United) JD(U) member Vijay Kumar Chaudhary is given the Rural Engineering, Rural Development, Water Resources, Information and Public Relations Department, and Parliamentary affairs. 

Bijendra Prasad Yadav of the BJP got Energy, Prohibition, Planning, Food and Consumer Affairs.

The JD(U) member Mewalal Choudhary, who won the Tarapur constituency, would be the next Education Minister. 

Sheila Kumari of the BJP has been given the Transport Ministry. 

Santosh Kumar Suman of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) got the Minor Irrigation and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Welfare portfolios.

Mukesh Sahni of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, will handle Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. The BJP’s Mangal Pandey will be in charge of Health, Road, and Art and Culture.

The BJP’s Amrendra Pratap Singh has been allotted the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Sugar Cane; the party’s Rampreet Paswan will be in charge of Public Health Engineering.

Jivesh Misra would handle the tourism, mines, and labour portfolios.

Ram Surat Rai of the BJP has been given the Revenue and Law ministries.
