The Bihar Government on the 17th of August, extended the lockdown in the State till the 6th of September.

Initially, the lockdown was imposed till the 16th of August.  This is the third time the State Government imposed the lockdown in the State after the nationwide lockdown.

The Home Department of the Bihar Government released a notification regarding the same. 

The decision to extend the lockdown was taken due to the situation in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Terming the COVID-19 situation in Bihar as ‘alarming,’ the Nitish Kumar led Bihar Government extended the lowdown.

Bihar recorded a total of 1,06,618 cases with 2,525 new cases in the past 24 hours. Of the total positive cases, 29,369 are active cases, 76,706 are recovered/discharged cases and 542 deceased.

During this lockdown in containment zones, no public transport would be allowed to ply in areas falling under lockdown norms, but there would be no bar on construction activities besides transportation of goods, state officials said.

Air and rail travel have been allowed to continue and offices, banks, and other offices would function with minimal staff strength, they added.

The guidelines to be followed during the lockdown are:

  1. 50% staff strength in both private and state government offices. Officers would have to come to the office. 
  1. Other emergency services, electricity, water, municipality, hospitals, would function. 
  1. Shops, banks, ATMs will function normal
  1. Educational institutes would be closed.
  1. All places of worship would be closed. There will be no exception.
  1. No gathering would be allowed.
  1. Sports complexes would be allowed to open. But no spectators allowed.
  1. DMs will not have the power to dilute the restrictions. But they can impose some other restrictions as deemed necessary.
  1. Air travel and train travel will be unhindered as mandated by the Railways and the Director General of the Civil Aviation (DGCA.) 
  1. Transportations which are  not essential and are without E pass would be barred.

Considering these guidelines, one needs to be under lockdown till the 16th of August.

The announced lockdown would be imposed from the 18th of August till the 6th of September.
