The BJP ordered its Senior Leader Suraj Pal Amu to give an explanation regarding his Rs. 10 crore bounty. The politician reported he would pay anyone who beheaded actress Deepika Padukone Rs. 10 crores. Suraj Pal made the controversial comment due to the upcoming film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled Padmavati. This stirred a huge controversy not just in Bollywood but in India.
Instead of issuing an apology, Suraj Pal decided to give another threat of violence. “ The youth and warrior caste of this country have the strength to set every cinema on fire,” he said.
Padmavati is a film based on an epic poem about the Rajput queen Padmini. The beautiful Rajput queen committed suicide to avoid getting into the hands of Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji. The ongoing hate towards the film revolves around a theory that the movie insinuates a romance between Padmavati and Khilji. But the director of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali has denied this theory.
Multiple politicians have been attacking the film on basis of insulting historic Hindu personalities. Padmini, the 13th century queen’s existence has not been confirmed and many modern historians deny she ever existed.
