The arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Mr. Shrikant Tyagi has been sent for 14 days judicial custody.
On the 9th of August, Tuesday, hours after being arrested from Meerut, the Noida Police produced Mr. Shrikant Tyagi before the local court of Surajpur. The bench at the Surajpur Court sent Mr. Tyagi for two weeks of judicial custody for assaulting and abusing a woman at Grand Omaxe society in Noida.
In Uttar Pradesh, a BJP worker Shrikant Tyagi was booked for allegedly assaulting a woman after a spat. On the 5th of August, a spat took place at Grand Omaxe society in Sector-93B, Noida when the woman objected to the planting of some trees by Shrikant Tyagi. After which, Tyagi abused the woman and also hurled abusive words at her husband with derogatory remarks about her.
Mr. Alok Singh, the Noida Commissioner of Police (CP) said, “Here is a zero tolerance policy against crime against women and children.” He further added, “Tyagi had first tried to go to the airport but by the time the video was viral. Then he went to Meerut. He spent the night changing his device. Then he went to Haridwar and Rishikesh. After spending some time there, he again entered UP. Then again he changed his device.” The police also mentioned that the self proclaimed BJP leader Mr. Shrikant Tyagi was using a VIP Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) cars.
As of now, police have recovered five vehicles used by Shrikant Tyagi including two Fortuners, two Safaris and one Honda Civic.
Notably, the Noida Police have booked Mr. Shrikant Tyagi under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt,) 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace,) 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 447 (punishment for criminal trespass.
Furthermore, an investigation in this matter is underway.
