On the 9th of September, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished the office of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut.

According to the sources, around 11:00 A.M., the BMC used JBC to demolish Ms. Ranaut’s office at Pali Hills, Mumbai.

Soon after the demolition process began, Kangana Ranaut took to her official Twitter handle and criticised the Maharashtra Government. She said the BMC and the Maharashtra Government are targeting her because of a Twitter fight between Kangana and the Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut.

The actress said, “There is no illegal construction in my house, also the government has banned any demolitions in COVID till September 30, Bullywood watch now this is what Fascism looks like #DeathOfDemocracy #KanganaRanaut.”

Tweeting the photos of BMC officials at her residence, Ms. Kangana said, “Pakistan…. #deathofdemocracy.”

In another tweet, Ms. Ranaut said, “I am never wrong and my enemies prove again and again this is why my Mumbai is POK now #deathofdemocracy.”

Hashtag, I#deathofdemocracy soon started to trend on Twitter. Fans of the actress slammed the State Government for the move and asked questions.

In regard to this, a Indian National Congress (INC) leader Mr. Srivatsa took to Twitter and said, “For those who are asking why (the) Corporation is taking action against Kangana’s illegal construction only now and not before. The answer is the same as how the Narcotics Control Bureau found out about Marijuana’s existence only now and not before!”

Soon Twitter was flooded with multiple issues of Mumbai which needs attention and started criticising the Maharashtra Government.

The social media platform was filled with tweets in a divided manner, while many were defending the Maharashtra Government, others were criticising.

Meanwhile, a notice issued by the BMC gave reasons behind the demolition.

As per the notice, the violations include: merging of two bungalows, converting a ground-floor toilet into an office cabin, an illegal meeting room in the pooja room among others.

Meanwhile, Ashish Shelar, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Vandre West and the Chief Whip of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) said, “Did BMC bulldoze house of Tiger Memon who got Mumbai blasts executed.”

Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer also filed a plea in the Bombay High Court against the demolition drive by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at her property.
