On the 17th of July, the Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa finally spoke about the ongoing speculation about his resignation as the State CM.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Mr. B.S. Yediyurappa said, “There is no truth in it… Not at all, not at all.” He further added, “Yesterday I met the Prime Minister. We discussed in detail the development of the State and I will come back to Delhi again in the first week of next month. There is no value of such news (regarding resignation.)”

Recently, rumours were heard that B.S. Yediyurappa was going to resign amid growing resentment and issues within the Party members. Many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Karnataka, expressed disappointment with the leadership of B.S. Yediyurappa.

In regard to this growing issue, in June, a few BJP leaders and MLAs of Karnataka demanded the resignation of the State CM. The Karnataka State Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeeshwara supported the demand of the MLAs and said, instead of the Chief Minister, his son has been ruling and controlling the Ministries of Karnataka.

Another BJP Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) A.H. Vishwanath also backed the MLAs and said that 80 % of the BJP legislators who met with the national General Secretary in charge of Karnataka, Arun Singh, supported changing the leadership (CM) of Karnataka.

However, B.S. Yediyurappa denied all the allegations of the MLAs regarding the faults in the leadership. He said, “I will resign the day the party high command asks me to quit. I do not speak about the rumours and the speculation created by some of the ministers and legislators.”

Highlighting his recent meetings with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Karnataka CM took to Twitter and posted, “Called on Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in New Delhi today. Had a fruitful discussion on various development projects of the state

On the 17th of July, B.S.Yediyurappa also met the National President of the BJP, J.P. Nadda. After the meeting he said, “We (B.S. Yediyurappa and J.P. Nadda) discussed in detail the development of the party in Karnataka. He has a very good opinion of me. I will work for the party to come back to power in the state again.”

B.S. Yediyurappa was elected as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in 2019 July, after H.D. Kumaraswamy, the former CM of Karnataka lost the majority and had to esign.
