Cauvery Protests: IPL Matches In Chennai Moved To A New Location

After yesterday’s Cauvery protests at the IPL match in Chennai, the authorities said the remaining six matches will not be held in the city. Sources from the BCCI have stated the cricket body plans to shit the matches to one of four places shortlisted.

The body will decide between Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Rajkot or Vishakapatnam. The venue will be announced soon by the Indian cricket association.

Yesterday thousands gathered outside the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai demanding the Center to form a Cauvery Board. The toss for the match was delayed by 13 minutes as the match officials struggled to enter the arena due to the protestors.

Things got worse when a shoe was thrown at South African Captain Faf du Plessis. Fortunately, Plessis was not hit by the shoe and the two culprits were immediately arrested. The police also arrested three others who were raising “We want Cauvery” slogans.
