On Friday, China rejected the UN security sanctions against the Pakistani based Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief and Pathankot attack mastermind Maulana Masood Azhar as a terrorist. India expressed their concern over this issue and said that this is a confirmation of China’s ‘Double standards’ in the fight against terrorism in the world’s community.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India said that it will continue to push forward with determination “through the use of all options available with us to bring perpetrators of terrorist violence to justice.” He also added “As a consequence of this decision, the UN Security Council has again been prevented from acting against the leader of a listed terrorist organization. We had expected China would have been more understanding of the danger posed to all by terrorism and would join India and others in fighting the common challenge of terrorism.”

He added that New Delhi was surprised by the reaction of Beijing since China was also facing the problem of Terrorism. He said, “The inability of the international community to list… Masood Azhar is an unfortunate blow to the concerted efforts to effectively counter all forms of terrorism, and confirms the prevalence of double standards in the fight against terrorism.”

Jaish-e-Mohammed already has 1267 committees sanction. But Masood Azhar has been excluded from the list, which allows him to access funds and travel without any obstacles. The decision of Beijing to block New Delhi’s proposal came a day before the expiry of Technical hold. The Spokesperson said that until a new list is proposed, this deal will be on hold. This decision will be implemented in the coming weeks by the Indian Government

The government also plans to add other terrorists on the list that will leave China with no option but to continue to support Pakistan and block terror leaders from sanctions. China has already put a hold twice on India’s proposed terrorist list.
