Commonwealth Games: India Wins 9th Gold In Men’s Table Tennis

India won its ninth Commonwealth games gold medal in the men’s Table Tennis finals. In the summit clash, the Indian team beat Nigeria with 3-0 score.  

India began the finals with its most experienced player Achanta Sharath Kamal who was beat by Bode Abiodun with a 4-11 score. Then the Indians picked up pace and turned the tables on the Nigerian team. The Nigerian team was thrashed 11-5, 11-4 and 11-9.

Next Sathiyan Gnanasekaran took the stand against Segun Toriola in the second singles match. This was similar to the previous match with Gnanasekaran losing the first match against Toriola with 12-10. Gnanasekaran jumped back in the action and came out with a winning streak of 11-3,11-3 and 11-4.  

Then in the doubles, Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekeran got a taste of the action and beat the Nigerian doubles team.
