The struggle to choose the Chief Minister (CM) of Rajasthan finally ended as Ashok Gehlot was declared as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, on Friday.

Sachin Pilot, the frontrunner for the CM’s post, settled down with the position of Deputy Chief Minister.

The decision came after hours of meetings and arguments about who will be the CM of Rajasthan. Sachin Pilot’s supporters raised slogans and protested to make Sachin the CM of Rajasthan. However, the fight within the Party ended with an unanimous decision.

K.C. Venugopal, a Congress leader, announced the name of Ashok Gehlot as the CM during a press conference held in Delhi. The press meet was held after a long meeting between Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.


Sachin Pilot, elected as the Deputy CM, was happy and said, “The magic of Gehlot and I worked.”

A Congress delegation and the new Chief Minister are expected to meet Kalyan Singh, the Governor of Rajasthan, today, around 7 P.M., in order to form a new Government.

The Congress won the Rajasthan elections after winning 100 Assembly seats in Rajasthan Assembly elections. Apart from Rajasthan, the Party also won the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The Congress announced the CMs of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, today. The new CM of Chhattisgarh is yet to be decided.

The official date when Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot will be sworn in will soon be announced.
