In the view of the recent attacks and misbehavior of the Delhi Police with the Indian National Congress (INC) leaders, a party delegation decided to meet with Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India.

During the meeting on the 20th of June, the delegation would submit a memorandum, highlighting attacks on the INC leaders, at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters.  The leaders alleged that the police entered the party headquarters, misbehaved with the leaders, and became violent with a few, causing injuries to the leaders.

Besides planning to meet with Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, the INC Rajya Sabha Members wrote to the Vice President of India Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, regarding the mishandling by the Delhi Police.

The INC tweeted, “@INCIndia Rajya Sabha MPs wrote to the Vice President of India @MVenkaiahNaidu regarding the brutal and unjustified behavior of Delhi Police with Congress MP’s.  We request serious action against those who attacked the people’s representatives in Parliament so viscously.”

Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, an INC leader said, “All detained Congress leaders were kept illegally.  No cases were registered.  Our leaders had to go to hospitals, some had broken ribs.  We came to the Vice President-Rajya Sabha Chairman to appeal on this matter.  It’s his duty to protect us.”

Notably, the INC leaders are protesting against the questioning of Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former INC President in the National Herald money laundering case.  Mr. Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case and was interrogated for three consecutive days.  Furthermore, he has been asked to join the probe again on the fourth day, the 17th of June.
