Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a welcoming gesture rewarded the medalists of the Asian Games 2018. He announced an increased prize money for the state players who won medals at the Asian Games 2018.
Arvind Kejriwal during a felicitation ceremony organized in the honor of the medal winners announced that the Delhi Government increased the amount for the champions in the 18th edition of the Asian Games. He also assured employment for the players who added glory to the nation.
Delhi CM said, “We have raised reward amount for winners of Asian Games. The reward for gold medalists raised from Rs. 20 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore, for silver medalists from Rs. 14 lakhs to Rs. 75 lakhs, for bronze medalists from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs. Also, we will arrange employment for them.”
Mr. Kejriwal further added that the Government would work towards providing the players with proper training facilities and other required services.
This year the event was one of the most successful ones for India in terms of medals won. India ended the game with a total of 69 medals including 15 gold. India maintained to be in top 10 and grabbed the eighth spot in the total tally of medals.
